Constellation is a national, member-based, Black reproductive health, rights, and justice network that connects, aligns, and weaves dynamic, Black repro leaders and movements towards collective power, bold leadership, and visionary action.
As a project of Black Feminist Future, Constellation serves to amplify the power and intersectional brilliance of Black repro leaders. Through joyful connection, intentional leadership development, power-building, and strength-based cross-movement collaboration, Constellation envisions an invigorated network of Black RJ leaders, advocates, organizers, lawyers, educators, scholars, birthworkers, artists, and beyond, advancing together towards autonomy, power, and resources for our communities, organizations, and movements.
THE STORY OF CONSTELLATION
Constellation emerged from the need to invigorate and connect the brilliant Black visionaries, leaders, and activists of the repro movement. Within our vibrant ecosystem, the Black repro movement has key players who provide unique and necessary contributions across different sectors. Constellation intends to connect Black repro leaders who work in large reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations as well as lawyers, creatives, cross-movement leaders, scholars, and medical practitioners. Through joyful connection, intentional leadership development, cross-movement collaboration, and power building, Constellation serves to amplify the dynamic possibilities of our individual and collective power in order to support strong leadership, connected organizations, and bolder, long-lasting wins towards autonomy, power and resources for reproductive justice.
Black Feminist Future (BFF) serves a unique role as a movement hub to generate ideas and solutions, provide space for convergence, and to deepen the impact of leaders and movements. While the Black RJ ecosystem is leaderful, connectivity, relationships, and shared work requires deep intentionality. Capacity and movement building are the vital, connective tissue that fortify, amplify, and position leaders, organizations, and movements for long-term success. As a movement aligner and capacity builder, Black Feminist Future’s Constellation project is helping to build necessary connective tissue for the Black reproductive justice, health, and rights movement.
Constellation envisions a Black RJ network that is deeply connected and rooted in the spirit of optimism and possibility. Through curated spaces such as virtual happy hours, campaign acknowledgements, astrological season celebrations, and more, Constellation will practice centering joy and trust-building in our network weaving and shared work.
Intentional Leadership Development
Constellation is invested in relevant and on-going opportunities for members to participate in leadership development. Network members will have no-cost access to trainings and fellowships grounded in Black RJ narrative power, direct action, and innovative opportunities including, but are not limited to: RJ direct action training with BlackOUT, Channel Black: Storytelling and Media training, and a 6-9 month Black RJ innovation fellowship.
Creating opportunities for strength-based, cross-movement learning exchanges is a priority of Constellation. Members will have several, continuous opportunities to engage, learn, and build alongside leaders from various intersecting movements around strengthening our current models for mutual aid, base-building, winning campaign strategies, global solidarity-building, and beyond.
From narrative power-building to dreaming up politically sharp strategic imperatives, Constellation believes in the collective potency of Black RJ leaders and visionaries to transform our movement. This network will serve as a container for leaders to explore and deepen in political grounding and build our capacity to win access and resources while crafting alternative, futuristic solutions to the systemic reproductive injustices our communities face.
